Dream Home? How To Find Yours

The dream home. It’s the elusive daydream that every home buyer drifts into. Whether we’re discontented with our current home, or just wishfully fancying a home that meets all our needs, your dream home doesn’t have to be something that stays in your dreams. If you’re looking to find that perfect house for your family, take a look at these three easy tips of what to look for in your perfect house so you can quit daydreaming and start living it!
Figure Out Your Dream Home Features
When you’re looking for your dream house it’s wise to have a hard list of exactly what features you must have. Is it a grand fireplace with a beautiful mantle? Or perhaps it’s the second living area? Or spacious dining room for a 12 seater table? Knowing what features are a must enables you to sift through potential homes with greater ease and less confusion. There are a lot of great homes out there! But if you stick to your list, you’ll narrow your search to pinpoint the house that you’re beyond happy in.
Space – It’s Not Just In Bedroom Sizes.
While finding the perfect number of bedrooms in a dream home could seem like a top priority (because everyone is tired of the bunk bed situation) there are more space issues to consider.
Is there a shed on the property for lawn mowers and outdoor equipment? How much storage is in the garage? And take a good look at kitchen storage and counter space. Do you see yourself able to cook and store all that you need comfortably? What about closet space? Having a coat closet is nice, but think hallway storage, linen closet, bathroom cabinets, etc. You want to make sure you can live comfortably within your home’s walls with enough storage to keep your own sanity.
Future Projects
Now, this might seem odd but bear with me. Moving into a “perfect” home is as big of a daydream as there is! While you might adore the layout and flow of the home, and you think the kitchen looks like a dream from HGTV, and hope to spend vast amounts of time in the master jet tub, there will no doubt be opportunities for changes. Don’t see these as negatives. Look beyond what the house has now to what it could have to enhance it.
Maybe you can add some built-in wood bookshelves down the road. Or add a hot tub to the backyard area. With each future project, you only make the home more to your style and more fun to live in!
Whatever your dream home looks like in your dreams, know there is the potential to have those dreams come true! Stick to your list, know if you’ve got the space, and look to the future, and you’re sure to have your dream home in no time. I don't know if you missed it, but our company name is New Mexico Dream House for a reason!
